Terms of sale and support

Version 2026-09-09, as of 9 September 2026

These terms apply to every device I refurbish and sell, and to every service you book alongside it. Please read sections 5, 8 and 9 in particular. That is where it says what I stand behind and what I do not.

1Who is selling

The seller is Cedric Reumer, Im Büeli 1, 8864 Reichenburg, Switzerland, a sole proprietorship. Reachable at cedric.reumer@bluewin.ch and +41 79 281 56 95.

I sell commercially. You are buying as a consumer if you acquire the device for private use. If you buy for a company, the consumer protection sections do not apply.

2What you are buying

You are buying a used notebook that I have tested, cleaned and set up fresh with Linux. It is not a new device. Wear on the case, keyboard and screen is normal and is not a defect, as long as it is described in the listing or on the test report.

  • The device runs Arch Linux with KDE Plasma, not Windows and not macOS. On request the desktop can be made to look like Windows or macOS. That is appearance only.
  • The office suite is OnlyOffice, with LibreOffice in addition on request. That is not Microsoft Office. Both open and save .docx, .xlsx and .pptx. With very elaborate layouts, macros or mail merges from Microsoft Office there can be differences.
  • A Windows licence is not part of the purchase. If you want to keep Windows, book that option before the build.
  • Programs that exist only for Windows or macOS will not run, or will run with limitations. If you depend on a particular program, please clear that with me before buying.

3Price, surcharges and payment

The device price is in the listing. Whatever you additionally select in the configurator is added as a surcharge. The configurator shows device price, surcharge and total separately before you submit.

Most programs cost nothing, because they are free on Linux. What is charged is hardware and my working time. Where I set something up by hand, the estimated duration is shown with the option. That time is included in the price and is not billed on top.

Payment goes through Stripe. Which payment methods appear is shown on the payment page: card, TWINT, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and bank transfer. There is no other route, and no invoice outside Stripe.

With a bank transfer, confirmation takes one to two working days. Until the money has arrived the order counts as open. I build the device after that, not before.

4Handover and your duty to inspect

Please check the device immediately on receipt: power it on, screen, keyboard, ports, Wi-Fi, sound, camera, and whether the programs you ordered are there. Report any recognisable defect without delay, at the latest within 7 days, in writing to help@justswit.ch.

This is not red tape, it is the law: under Art. 201 CO a device counts as approved if you do not report recognisable defects immediately. Defects that only show up later should be reported as soon as you discover them.

5Warranty on the device

I give 12 months of warranty from handover. That is the shortest period the law permits for used goods (Art. 210 para. 4 CO), and it is expressly agreed here.

Covered are defects that were already present at handover, even if they only become noticeable later. That includes, for example, a fault in the mainboard, SSD, screen, keyboard or ports.

  • I repair, replace the part or the device, or refund proportionally. Which route I take is my choice, but I take your situation into account.
  • Bring or send the device to me for that. I pay the shipping to me if the defect is covered.
  • If the defect is not covered, I tell you beforehand what a repair costs. Without your go-ahead I do nothing.

If I have fraudulently concealed a defect, I cannot rely on any limitation under Art. 199 CO. That is not my intention either: what I know about the device is in the test report.

6What is not covered

  • The battery. A battery is a wear part. The test report states the measured remaining capacity on the day of handover. That this capacity keeps falling over time is normal and not a defect. A new battery can be booked as an option.
  • Normal wear: scratches on the case, worn key lettering, hinges loosening under ordinary use.
  • Damage from dropping, pressure, liquid, overheating, overvoltage or transport without suitable packaging.
  • Damage from your own work on the hardware, from opening the device, or from repairs by third parties.
  • Consequences of you rebuilding the system yourself, installing another operating system or changing system files.
  • Consumables and third-party accessories such as printers, routers or external screens. I help with the setup but I am not liable for other manufacturers’ devices.

7Operating system and software

Arch Linux is a continuously updated system. There are no version jumps, but there are updates all the time. That has a price: in rare cases an update can break something.

That is why the device automatically creates a restore point before every update. You can bring back yesterday’s state in a few minutes; the instructions are in the help on the device.

  • I do not owe you that a particular piece of software stays available permanently or runs in a particular version. Software comes from its makers and from the Linux package sources, not from me.
  • I do not owe you that third-party services keep working, for instance when WhatsApp, Zoom or a bank changes its web interface.
  • Restart after every update. If you do not, drivers can fail, Wi-Fi for example. That is a property of the system, not a defect.

8Services: I owe care, not success

For everything I do for you beyond the device itself, mandate law applies (Art. 394 ff. CO). That includes, for example, setting up a printer, setting up a mail account, setting up backups, a personal introduction, delivery and setup, and remote support.

Under a mandate I owe careful work, not a particular result (Art. 398 para. 2 CO). That is the most important difference from the device itself, and it is deliberate.

Concretely: I am liable if I made a mistake, that is, if I worked without due care. I am not liable for something failing for reasons that are not mine.

  • Covered example: I set up the backup, configure it wrongly, it never runs, and later a backup is missing. That is my mistake.
  • Not covered: the backup is set up correctly, but you do not plug the external drive in for half a year, and then the internal SSD fails.
  • Not covered: your printer is set up and works. Half a year later the manufacturer changes something and it stops working.
  • Not covered: an old hard drive that data is to be copied from is already faulty and will not release the data.

9Your data

You are responsible for your data. Before any work on your device or on your old drives, back up everything that matters to you yourself.

When I work with your data I work carefully, and I am liable for data loss only where I caused it through my own mistake. For data that was already damaged, deleted or on faulty drives, I cannot stand in.

  • Devices and drives you hand to me are treated confidentially and nothing is passed on to third parties.
  • I erase old drives only after you have confirmed to me in writing that the transfer is complete.
  • During remote support you see everything and can stop at any time. I never connect without your consent in that same moment.
  • Diagnostic reports you send me from the device contain technical information about the system, not personal files. I use them only for troubleshooting.
  • Your name, delivery address, email address and phone number are entered at Stripe, not with me. They stay there and not on my server. I retrieve them when I print the shipping label or look at your order, and I do not store them.
  • What my server holds about your order is only: the order number, what you ordered, the amount, and any note you wrote. No name, no address.
  • Stripe is the payment provider. What happens to your details there is set out in their privacy policy on stripe.com. Details of what I store where are in my privacy policy.

10Support

Included in the price are 30 days of support from handover for questions about the software and about using the device, by email, phone or remote support. You can extend that to 12 months as an option.

Support means: I help you with questions about the device as I set it up. Support is not general IT management and not unlimited training. For larger jobs I give you a quote first.

The warranty under section 5 runs 12 months regardless of whether you extended support. Support and warranty are two different things.

11Liability

For personal injury I am liable under the law. That cannot be limited and should not be.

For property damage and financial loss I am liable without limit in cases of intent and gross negligence. A limitation would be invalid anyway under Art. 100 para. 1 CO.

In cases of slight negligence my liability is limited to the amount you paid for the device and the service concerned. For lost profit, business interruption and other consequential damage I am not liable in cases of slight negligence.

12Returns and withdrawal

Switzerland has no general right of return for purchases made over the internet. If you order a device and then do not like it, that is not a ground for return. This differs from the EU.

A statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under Art. 40a ff. CO exists where the contract is concluded at your home, at your workplace or at a promotional event, and exceeds 100 francs. It does not exist where you asked for the meeting yourself.

So that it is clear to both of us what applies: if you call me out to you, we briefly note in writing that the appointment came about at your request. The simplest route is to complete the purchase through the configurator beforehand and use the visit only for delivery and setup.

Independently of that, I take a device back within 14 days if it is undamaged and complete. Services already performed are billed by time and effort in that case.

13Sales through Ricardo and Tutti

If the purchase comes about through a platform, that platform’s terms apply in addition. Where they contradict these terms, they take precedence.

The surcharge for configurator options is settled directly between us, where the platform permits it.

14Law and place of jurisdiction

Swiss law applies. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods is excluded.

The place of jurisdiction is my domicile. For contracts with consumers the mandatory places of jurisdiction under Art. 32 CPC are reserved, so you may also sue at your own domicile.

Before we go to court, we talk. Get in touch, I almost always find a solution.

15Version

Version 2026-09-09. What counts is the version you accepted when you submitted your configuration. Which one that was is stored with your device, and I will tell you at any time.

These terms exist in German, English, French and Italian. The German version is authoritative. The others are translations for understanding; where a formulation differs, the German text applies.
